Savitar future barry4/10/2023 Yet it’s a little strange that “ The Once and Future Flash” took great pains to show us Barry (as the now infamous Emo Barry) shunning his friends and the hurt it caused them. Possible? Perhaps, since just like The Highlander taught us, there can be only one. It was that feeling of abandonment and loneliness that inspired him to try to become a self-styled god. The remnant said that after he survived the battle with … um, himself, Joe West, Wally West and the other members of Team Flash turned their backs on him since he was just a duplicate. The other part was a little harder to believe. The future Flash was never devastated by the death ofIris West, meaning time remnants were never created by. It’s not like he was going to end up with the love of his life, as she’d be together with the “real” Barry. Just like that, Savitar's future never happened. In one aspect, the idea that the villain is a time remnant make his killing of Iris West a little more logical. What was really needed, though, was an explanation about Savitar’s motives. (Though as shown this week, changes to Barry do have an impact on Savitar, like the ones forced on him when Barry had his memory erased.) Second, my theory is HR used his holograph thing to disguise himself as Iris, and when Savitar threw Iris down to tangle with Barry, HR made a switch with Iris and died in her place. As Cisco Ramon explained, everything about the villain’s history is a closed loop, so even Barry killing himself wouldn’t stop him. The flash of humanity in her eyes was there in the last episode, and shes regretting siding with Savitar now. We later discovered that Savitar journeyed back into the past, creating the legend about him that he was the original speedster and sowing the seeds for the cult that worshiped him. His double was created to help defeat Savitar in the future, but after their win, the team no longer. Savitar killed most of the time remnants that Barry summoned to aid him, but one survived, and that one, in turn, became Savitar. Spoiler alert: it was a time remanent of Barry Allen. But they weren’t 100 percent right, either.Īs we learned this week in “ Cause and Effect,” Savitar is actually a time remnant of the Flash himself, plucked from the timeline to help battle Savitar in one of those ironies that only sci-fi and superhero properties with time travel involved can give us. He is a massive step up from Reverse-Flash and Zoom as Barry Allen’s big bad, and has made the likes of Barry, Wally, and Jay Garrick look positively slow. Those people subscribing to the idea that Savitar would be revealed as an evil Barry Allen from the future, an idea that has its roots within a DC Comics run from just a few years ago, weren’t wrong. The central villain of The Flash’s third season, Savitar has outrun every speedster who’s appeared in the Arrowverse up until now. As familiar as it could possibly be, in fact, since Barry Allen is the show’s main character. We could add a spoiler warning here, but at this point the identity of the season 3 big bad on The Flash has been out there for a while.įans of The Flash have had an inkling for a while now that when Savitar finally stepped out of his spiky metallic armor, the face inside the helmet would be a familiar one.
